The Nulistik Forum has been established about a year ago and is moderated by the Tempo institute in Jakarta. Every two months the members of the Forum (policy researchers, representatives from media, the private sector and government) come together to discuss discussion issues related to journalism, policy research, and policy making. The aim of the Forum if for these discussions to contribute to strengthen the skills of journalists and researchers in packaging research results to policy audiences.
Last week, as reported in this blog, the Nuslik Forum had two prominent guests who shared their perspectives:Sofyan Djalil, Minister of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) and Jaleswari Pramodhawardani, an expert staff at the State Secretary.
Minister Sofyan Djalil stressed \’a country will progress because it of good policy. And good policy should be based on in-depth research.\’ He also stressed the researchers and policy makers need to work closely together dissect complex policy problems and make available good quality evidence to inform policy decisions.
Jaleswari Pramodhawardani, a researcher herself now in a key government institution, highlighted the critical importance for researchers to know how to packaged in a synthetic but creative way objective and comprehensive policy options and recommendations to catch the attention of policy makers.
